Mitchell Baylis (MAB) established his style of Abstract Conceptualism in the 1970’s. The art reveals abstract concepts, rather than concrete objects, as the primary focus of artistic or philosophical expression. It emphasizes ideas, theories, and mental constructs over direct representation of physical reality.

MAB describes his art not as a drawing, but as “drawing the viewer to interact at an emotional communication”. In viewing his ink drawings, the patterns cascade outwardly with a complexity of faces easily discernible as human on an emotional level.

Images are interwoven into amalgams that shift form at every distance and angle from which they are viewed. Through this art we can navigate a psychological mirror of fear alongside joy, anxiety with calm – all on the same surface.

MAB is presented as an artist who transcends traditional representation, using patterns and distortion to create a deeply engaging and emotionally resonant experience. His work invites viewers to confront their own perceptions and explore the complexities of human emotions. The combination of his art and psychology studies makes his work very unique.
